College of the Canyons closed out the regular season in commanding fashion with a 5-0 home win over Glendale College to help boost its postseason hopes.

Canyons (12-5-4, 9-2-3) is undefeated in its last eight matches having won its final three matches of the regular season with a 13-1 goal differential. COC netted at least five goals in three of its last five outings.

Freshman Nicolle Bulnes was first on the board for Canyons with her goal coming in the 37th minute on a pair of nice touches from Emily Perez and Andrea Marrufo. The goal was the second of the season for Bulnes.

Brooke Chambers made the most of her opportunity in the 40th minute with an unassisted score to put the game at 2-0.

Moments later Marrufo added to her point total, with Bulnes credited on the assist, in the 42nd minute.

Canyons settled for a 3-0 lead in the opening half despite logging 19 shots in the period. COC ended the game with 39 shots, including 28 on goal.

Glendale goalkeeper Ashley Valle made a number of spectacular saves in net, finishing the game with a whopping 23 saves. But the Canyons attack was just too relentless.

Chambers added a second score in the 54th minute, good for her 10th of the season, to make it a 4-0 game.

Later, Araceli Castaneda closed things out with her team-leading 14th goal, on an assist from Alexandra Prezioso. That goal came in the 81st minute and set the final score at 5-0.

Canyons goalkeeper Aaliyah Lopez (11-5-4) recorded the clean sheet, her ninth of the season.

The Cougars finish the regular season third in the Western State Conference (WSC), South Division. Citrus won the conference with 36 points followed by Santa Monica (34) and COC (30). Canyons split its season series 1-1 with both Citrus and SMC.

COC will now wait to learn its postseason fate. Canyons is looking to qualify for the postseason for a ninth consecutive year.
