Vaqueros Men's Tennis Wraps Up Season in SoCal Quarters

Riverside, Ca. The SBCC Men's Tennis team wrapped up its season in Riverside in the SoCal team playoffs this past week, ulitmately losing 5-0. Despite this, the Vaqueros were able to advance three doubles teams to the state championship in Ojai in the last week of April. In the SoCal Quarterfinals, SBCC's doubles matches were very closely contested. The Vaqs lost at positions #1 and 3 by score of 7-9.  

Taylor Kleine and Menno Raeymakers came back from a break serve down to keep the match alive at 7-7.  The Riverside doubles team of Rullan brothers had a good variety of shots along with impressive lobs late in the match which helped them winm
At #3, Santiago Maldonado and Tom Braun played solidly in a a battle.  The Vaqs pulled ahead 7-6 but then the Tigers took the next three games to win the doubles pro set.  
 
Three of the singles matches were looking good for the Vaqs as they were making positive recoveries in the second set, however the overall match was called when Riverside scored their 5th point.   Taylor Kleine and Arnaud Vangenechten lost their first singles sets and were ahead in the second when the match was called while Santiago Maldonado won his first set and was ahead on the second set.  
 
The Vaqs ended their team playoff run in the quarterfinal of SoCal.  
 
The Vaqueros advanced three doubles teams who will compete in the historic Ojai tournament at the end of April.
