Four of the top teams in NorCal and the state took to the sand Thursday in chilly Saratoga. After falling to Feather River in an epic opener, West Valley earned a split with a 4-1 victory over Sierra as the sun went down and temperatures plummeted. The College of San Mateo took on FRC and Sierra.

West Valley (1-2) had a 2-0 lead after the first flight against Feather River (6-1), whose indoor team won the 2022 CCCAA indoor title. The Golden Eagles won all three of the second-flight matches for the 3-2 win. WVC 2's pair Sydney Rogers/Devin Derecho and 4's Alex Franklin/Taylor Valles picked up the wins for WVC.

Rogers/Derecho and Franklin/Valles again paced WVC against Sierra. Viking 1's Flor Porras/Kiana Manson and 3's Gabrielle Carbonel/Sydney Pista also earned victories against the Wolverines (5-2).
