City College of San Francisco quarterback Jack Newman threw for 363 yards and tossed four touchdown passes while the CCSF defense owned the line of scrimmage in a convincing 45-0 shutout victory over visiting Sacramento City College on Saturday at George M. Rush Stadium.

The Rams dominated on both sides of the ball as the offense totaled 589 yards, including 481 yards in the air. The defense had its way the entire contest, stuffing the Sacramento City running game for -50 yards while forcing four turnovers (2 interceptions, 2 fumbles).

CCSF started the game slowly, getting a 26-yard field goal from Nick Hill to cap the Rams' opening drive in the first quarter. Newman took over from that point, tossing touchdown passes to Devan Walker (16 yards), Jeffrey Weimer (6 yards), and Aaron Espero (6 yards) to give CCSF a 24-0 lead at halftime.

Walker's three-yard TD run late in the third quarter extended the Rams lead to 31-0 before Newman connected with Max Rodarte for his final touchdown of the game, a 32-yard strike as time expired in the third, to put San Francisco ahead 38-0.

The Rams closed out the scoring in the fourth as Matt Jenner tossed a 39-yard touchdown pass to Shawn Allen at the 10:11 mark.

Newman completed 28-of-40 passes while Jenner was a perfect 3-for-3 with 81 yards and a touchdown. Jeremy Stephens also saw action at QB, throwing for 37 yards on 5-of-7 passing.

Walker led the Rams on the ground with 45 yards on 12 carries while Daelin DeGraffenreid caught six passes for 111 yards. Espero ended the game with eight receptions for 90 yards and Weimer had 11 catches for 69 yards.

On defense, Jahvius Leui led the Rams with seven tackles (5 solo, 3 tackles for loss) and a sack. Sam Lockett and D'Andre Greeley both had interceptions.

CCSF is now 2-0 after Saturday's win and last week's 66-14 season-opening victory over Sierra College. The Rams return to action next week (Sep. 18) when they travel to Modesto Junior College for a 6 p.m. non-conference game.
