LANCASTER - The Marauder women's tennis team collected its first victory of the season after defeating Victor Valley, 6-1, Thursday afternoon at Antelope Valley College.
Of the four singles' matches played, AVC won three of them. It got the other win in the No. 5 singles after the Rams defaulted that match because they only had four players. No. 2 singles Viktoriia Belonogova had no problems with Victor Valley's Ava Andrasi, 6-2, 6-2.
No. 3 Jaime Jones had an even easier time with Lorene Conners after defeating her 6-0, 6-0. Finally, No. 4 Janice Thomas had little trouble with the Rams' Vanessa McAllister, 6-0, 6-1.
Belonogova teamed with No. 1 singles player Janice Vidal to defeat Victor Valley's Andrasi and Ally Samp, 8-3. Samp defeated Vidal earlier in the day, 6-3, 6-2. Jones and Thomas made quick work of Conners and McAllister, 8-1.
The Marauders return to the court on Tuesday when they travel to Santa Monica at 1pm.
