After spotting Diablo Valley a goal a mere two minutes in, the West Valley women's soccer team rallied for three unanswered tallies on its way to a 3-1 "Battle of the Vikings" win Tuesday in Saratoga. DVC's Teeny Osmundsen redirected a Magdalena Avila cross past West Valley keeper Melody Cervantes and it would remain 1-0 until Nicole Nunes scored the unassisted equalizer in the 40th minute. WVC (2-3-1) came out aggressive in the second half, but couldn't find the back of the net until Danielle Wheeler drove home a rebound off DVC GK Katey Wholers in the 79th minute. Kyndall Schwiebert provided the insurance goal at 85' on a nice pass from Emiko Kimura. West Valley heads to American River Sept. 13 for a 4:00pm fixture against the Beavers (2-1-0).
