Men's track & field team won a pair of events at the Cerritos Invitational

Giving most of their regular players the day off, the deep Cerritos College men's tennis team came through, as they defeated host El Camino College, 6-3 in an Inland Empire Athletic Conference match on Thursday. Seizing the opportunity to contribute, the bottom three players on the singles ladder posted one win, while adjusted doubles in all three positions proved effective, as they all earned wins. The Falcons (4-2, 2-1) will travel to Mt. San Jacinto College for another conference match.

The team's top player, freshman Arthur Bellegy (Lycée Molière HS, France), remained in the lineup and earned a 6-2, 6-1 singles win, while he teamed with sophomore Stevan Quintantar (Cerritos HS) for the first time and came away with an 8-3 win. Seeing his first action in the #3 position in singles, freshman Luke Andrews (Columbine, CO HS) made quick work of Daniel Hermosisma, 6-1, 6-2, and also teamed with freshman Brendan Harden (Lakewood HS) for the second time this season and earned an 8-2 win.

Quintantar, who has played in the middle of the lineup, was swept in his first appearance in the #2 spot on the ladder, while freshman Jacob Miles (La Serna HS) was inserted into the #6 position and picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win to help the team. Harden, seeing his second action of the year in singles, played a three-set match, but came up short in a 4-6, 7-5, 4-10 decision in the #4 position.

Sophomore Edson Pinzon (Warren HS) played his first doubles match of the season and joined Miles for an 8-2 win.
