W. Water Polo: Big win improves Falcons conference record to 4-0

On Wednesday, the Cerritos College women's water polo team scored the first 13 goals in their South Coast Conference match against Pasadena City College and came away with a 19-4 victory. The win keeps the Falcons (6-8, 4-0) undefeated in conference action, as they team will travel to Long Beach City College next Wednesday for another conference match.
In helping the team get off to a fast start, sophomore Angelina Romero (Schurr HS) accounted for four of the Falcons six goals in the first period and posted all five of her goals in the first half. All eight players saw action in the field and scored at least one goal.
 
Freshman goalie Alyssa Sorrells (Bell Gardens HS) played in the field in the second half and scored a goal, while assisting on another. She wasn't asked to make any saves in the first half. Sophomores Miranda Alvarez (Schurr HS) and Jillian Crockett (Cerritos HS) each played a quarter in goal and both recorded a pair of saves.
 
Alvarez and sophomore Kaya Glynn (Cerritos HS) each produced three goals and four assists in the victory, while Crockett assisted on four goals to go with her two tallies. As a team, Cerritos had 25 steals, with freshman Melissa Prata (Downey HS) turning in a season-high eight, with Romero contributing six.
