SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The College of the Canyons softball team held off a surging Cerritos College team that put together a run in the fifth inning, to narrowly beat the Falcons 7-5 on Friday afternoon.
Sophomore Kimmie Lockhart was the winning pitcher, as she threw a complete game and struck out two. Freshmen outfielder Ashley Sandoval-Colon went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs, while sophomore infielder Savannah Gutierrez also had three hits and one RBI.
The Cougars will travel to Bakersfield on Sunday, Feb. 24, for a tournament.
