Citrus Bounces Back with Gusto

Citrus College bounced back from its first defeat of the season in a big way, downing West LA 8-1 to open Western State Conference action Tuesday afternoon.

The Owls improve to 7-1-0 on the year and start conference with a 1-0-0 mark. The Wildcats drop to 0-6-2 overall, 0-1-0 in WSC action with the loss.

Six different Owls scored in the blowout, including two each from Jayme Beatty and Kaylee Sanchez. Lillie Herrera, Alaissa Morales, Janelle Alvarado, and Elisa Salas also scored for Citrus.

West LA managed to sneak in one goal in the first half, but Citrus capitalized five times in the first 45 minutes to all but seal the victory. The Owls added three more goals in the second half to get back to their winning ways.

Citrus returns home to host Bakersfield College on Friday at 3 p.m.
