FULLERTON, CA – The SBCC women's volleyball team is back at full strength and the results showed it on Wednesday at Fullerton, as the Vaqueros earned a 3-0 road sweep, 25-20, 25-22, 25-12.

Santa Barbara is now 3-5 on the year, while the Hornets fall to 4-6.

"Last night was a solid team win after a long road trip down to Fullerton," said head coach Kat Niksto. "Libero Jacelin McKie led the team with 13 digs and was solid in serve receive allowing us to run our offense. Both middles, Heidi Collins and Karoline Ruiz, had big nights with 10 and 9 kills, respectively, while also both hitting over .500."

After dropping the opening set, Fullerton put up its best fight in set two, which was decided by only three points. However, the Vaqueros would be at their best down the stretch, with their 13-point third set win going down as their largest so far this season.

It was the second consecutive match that Collins has led the Vaqueros in kills. The impressive freshman did so while posting season-bests in both kills per set (3.33) and hitting percentage (.600).

It was also a season-high night on kills for Ruiz (9), who chipped in defensively as well with two blocks. Sophomore opposite Caroline McCarty, who leads the Vaqueros in points this season, went for eight kills, five digs and two blocks.

Santa Barbara will look to build on its momentum Friday night when it plays at Santa Monica at 6:00 p.m.
