Comets take down Knights in the rain

CARLSBAD, CA (3/29/2023) -- On Wednesday, the Comets braved the rain and got in two matches down at Warm Waters Beach in Carlsbad. In their first match of the day, they faced MiraCosta College and lost 3-2. The 4s (Ashlynn Cravens/Lacey Garcia) and 5s (Kaihla Granger/Mayara Swillens) for the Comets picked up wins. The 4s won in two (21-11, 21-5), as did the 5s (21-7, 22-20).

Palomar faced San Diego City Collge and won 3-1, as the 1s pairs mutually agreed not to play due to the weather conditions. The 2s pairs, Kenna Broach and Rachael Cooke, and 4s, Ashlynn Cravens and Lacey Garcia both won their matches. Broach and Cooke won in three (21-19, 22-20, 15-8) and Cravens and Garcia got in down in two (21-11, 21-16). The 5s pair from City forfeited.

Head Coach Karl Seiler said, "Our 3s had a great day winning both of their matches. Our 2s had a grinding match in the pouring rain to secure the win against City. It was a rough day of weather but the girls worked really hard and stayed positive amongst the challenging conditions."
