Women’s Tennis: Roadrunners earn first SCC win, beat Cerritos 6-3

Four Rio Hondo College individual victories along with a pair of Cerritos College forfeits led to a 6-3 South Coast Conference win for the Roadrunners in Norwalk on Thursday.

The Roadrunners got singles win from sophomore Gabriella Tellez at No. 1, freshman Monique Rojas at No. 2, and freshman Daisy Haro at No. 4 while also earning a victory by freshman Kristie Jimenez at No. 6 by default.

Rojas won her second match of the day at No. 2 doubles, teaming with freshman Yadira Naranjo. And the duo of Haro and Jimenez earned another win by default at No. 3 doubles.

Rio Hondo snapped a two-match losing streak and improved to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Roadrunners return to SCC action on Tuesday (Mar. 10) when they travel to Victor Valley College for a 2 p.m. match.
