SBCC posted the first win of its inaugural beach volleyball season on Friday, taking down Victor Valley 4-1 in the Western State Conference opener at Santa Monica.

The first four doubles teams swept their matches with No. 4 Michelle Orgel and Lily Eaves securing the most lopsided victory by a 21-4, 21-15 count. The Vaqueros forfeited the No. 5 match.

McKenzie Garrison/Grace Trocki took the No. 1 match, beating Mary Flores/Rachel Firm 21-17, 21-11. SBCC is 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the WSC.

"We controlled the matches from the start," said coach Samantha Calisto. "Emma Taccone played her first official match and served for the win at No. 3 to clinch our third point. Lily Eaves served 12 straight points."

Taccone, a freshman from Little Silver, NJ, teamed with Madie Meyer to win the 3s, 21-16, 21-18.
