Taking on Golden West College on Tuesday, the Cerritos College women's soccer team was able to get off only one shot on goal in a 2-0 non-conference loss. The setback drops the team's record to 2-1-0 on the year and will have a week off before traveling to Taft College to take on the Cougars at 1:00 p.m. next Tuesday.

The Rustlers (4-2-0) got off to a quick 1-0 start by using their overall team speed and found LaNell Swain all alone against freshman goalkeeper Victoria Ruiz (Applied Technology Center HS). Swain fired a shot under the diving Ruiz in the eighth minute and the Falcons found themselves behind.

Looking to connect several passes to get deep into Golden West territory, Cerritos found it difficult to penetrate their defense and get clean shots off against goalkeeper Chloe Miller. The only shot on goal on the day came from freshman Aryah Ayala (Cerritos HS) in the first half, while the Falcons were outshot, 18-6.

Had it not been for the play of Ruiz, who made 11 saves in the game, the score could have been much different. The team was unable to stop the Rustlers Alyssa Serrano, who went up and headed the ball into the goal off a perfect corner kick in the 84th minute for the second goal of the game.
