Golden Eagles beat Napa Valley 3-1 for first win, earn opening-day split

NAPA – The 2022 West Hills College Lemoore women's volleyball season is off and running. On Friday, the Golden Eagles got off to a good start as they split a pair of matches on opening day at Napa Valley College.

West Hills started the day with 3-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-23, 25-22) victory over host Napa Valley and followed that with a 3-1 (25-12, 17-25, 25-19, 25-14) loss to City College of San Francisco to close out the one-day event.

Freshman Leah Mosqueda was impressive in her Golden Eagles debut. She paced the offense in the win over Napa Valley with 11 kills and also came up with eight digs.

Sophomore Emma Revious, one of just four on this year's roster, also contributed with eight kills, six aces, and 16 digs.

Freshman Klarissa Solorio came up huge on the defensive end with a team-high 36 digs. Sophomore Haleigh Fagundes totaled 15 digs, freshman Lexa Gallardo had 14 digs, and freshman Sariah Serrano chipped in with 10 digs.

West Hills had a tougher time with CCSF. After dropping the opening set, the Golden Eagles picked up a 25-17 win before San Francisco won the final two.

Revious led WHCL on offense with eight kills and added 10 digs. Solorio had another impressive match on defense with a team-leading 27 digs. Serrano posted 13 digs while sophomore Kaitlyn Mckee four kills and seven digs.

West Hills (1-1) returns to action on Friday (Sep. 2) at 1 p.m. when the Golden Eagles host Cuesta College in their home opener.
