SMC Edged Out in Close Match to LA Mission 

SMC women's tennis lost a tough match to LAMC, 4-5 bringing their record to 2-4 in conference play and 2-4 overall.

 

Nicole West and Kai Nikchevich won 3 of the team's overall points for the day.  First, West and Nikchevich posted an impressive 8-5 win at no. 1 doubles. West and Nikchevich followed up with West winning at no. 1 singles, 4-6, 6-3 (10-8) and Nikchevich winning at no. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-2.

 

West finished the first half of conference play as the top player in the WSC with an undefeated record at no. 1 singles.  West is also undefeated in doubles with partner Kai Nikchevich.  Nikchevich is undefeated at no. 2 singles.

 

Other top performances of the day came from SMC's no. 2 doubles team of Veronica Gerlach and Juyen Pollack who won 8-2.
