KNIGHTS BEAT YUBA FOR FIRST WIN IN 2019

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College picked up the first win of the year for the women's soccer team on Tuesday, beating Yuba College at home 3-0.

The Knights out-shot Yuba 21-13, getting one goal apiece from Olivia Smith, Gabrielle Johnson and Alexis Highfill.

Smith's goal was set up by Tailor Mehan in the 32nd minute and Highfill scored on a penalty kick 2 minutes into the second half.

Smith set up Johnson in the 80th minute to pull away and seal the Knights' first victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Bethany Sather recorded 10 saves and Emily Porter had three as the duo combined for a cleansheet.

Shasta (1-2) plays the next three matches on the road this week, playing at De Anza Wednesday, at Cabrillo on Thursday and at Chabot on Friday.
