West shows promise on the road in 4-3 loss

Santa Barbara, CA:

After spotting the Vaqueros a 2-run lead in the bottom of the 1st, the West LA Wildcats
Baseball team quickly tied the game in the top of the second inning. After Julian Huerta (New Design)
and Anthony Angel (Venice) benefitted from back to back walks. SBCC's Toby Spach uncorked
a wild pitch that moved the runners up 90 feet. A ball hit by WEST first baseman Damien Johnson (Malibu)
was misplayed and allowed two WEST base runners to score, tying the game at 2 runs a piece.

Alfonso Cano (Rolling Hills Prep) came on in the top of the 4th and provided WEST with 4 1/3 innings of shut
out baseball on the mound. Cano pitched out of the jam fanned 8 including former Oregon Duck and
MLB draft choice of the Milwaukee Brewers, Kyle Froemke. After entering the game, Cano allowed just 1 hit.

The Wildcat bats woke up and out hit SBCC 9 to 5 on day two of the home and home series.
Nathan Nykaza (Beverly Hills) and Angel both added two hits each. After two games,
Angel is hitting an incredible .800 on the young season. Meanwhile, Nykaza is second on the team at .667.

West LA travels to LA Harbor College on Thursday, January 30th. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
