Rio Hondo College sophomore Federico Hurtado netted his first three goals of the season to help lead the Roadrunners to a 3-1 win over Los Angeles Mission College at home on Friday.

The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for Rio Hondo and moved its overall record to 2-3-1.

LA Mission struck first in the contest, getting an early goal in the 10th minute by Willy Pocasangre to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

But Hurtado provided the equalizer in the 35th minute, scoring the first of three thanks to the assist from Axel Almaraz. The game remained tied at 1-1 before exploded he for a flurry of goals in the 53rd and 54th minute.

Angel Cardenas provided the pass on Hurtado's go-ahead goal while Odvan Gomez was credited with the assists of Hurtado's final scoring strike just a minute later.

Jafet Salgado played all 90 minutes in goal for the Roadrunners and put together the first shutout of the season.

Rio Hondo will look to keep the winning momentum going on Tuesday (Sept. 17) when the Roadrunners host Santa Monica College in a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
