Home Sweep Home

After four matches on the road, the Gavilan College women's volleyball team playing in their home opener had to fight through nerves, the heat, and the Las Positas College volleyball team to get a 25-10, 25-7, 25-12 win.

Against the Hawks, who are fielding a team for the first time after taking a 4-year absence, the Rams were able to control the game at the net and from the service line. Sophomore Jasmine Lopez had 6 service aces, a career high, and was followed by freshman Kiki Heredia with 4 aces. Offensively the Rams were led by sophomore Makenna Deeth with 6 kills and sophomore Natalia Vidito, seeing her first action this season had 5 kills on 10 attempts in two sets. Freshman setter Teresa Brozic dished out 20 assists.

The Rams improved their record to 3-2 and will have a week off before competing in the Los Medanos Quad on Wednesday the 21st. There they will take on a pair of Bay Valley Conference teams in host Los Medanos at 4 pm, and Solano College at 6 pm both games taking place in Pittsburg. Go Rams!
