Cuesta Softball kicked off its first homestand of the season ageist #8 Sacramento. The visiting Panthers came in strong and took Game 1, 7-0, but were down to their final out in Game 2. The Cougars owned a 4-3 lead with two outs in the 7th, but the Panthers connected for back-to-back singles, before earning a pair of walks to force home the run to tie the game. Cuesta stranded two runners in the bottom of the 7th, but the Panthers held and forced the game into extra innings. Sacramento pounded out three runs in the 8th inning to earn the victory, 7-4 and remain undefeated on the season at 10-0, while Cuesta falls to 4.4.
Both the Cougars and the Panthers will have their hands full as they join LA Mission for a mini-tournament tomorrow. The Cougars and the Panthers meet again in tomorrow's opener (11 AM) and will be joined by LA Mission for the rest of the day. The Eagles face Sac City at 1 PM and close the day against Cuesta (3 PM).
