Vaqueros Down Ventura 16-4 in Home Opener

SANTA BARBARA, CA – Playing Ventura in its first home game of the year, the SBCC women's water polo team easily handled its business defeating the Pirates 16-4.

The Vaqueros improved to 14-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Bella Straley got things started with the first two goals of the day less than three minutes in. Jenna Olson scored two late first quarter goals to give SBCC a 7-0 lead through one.

The Vaqueros led 11-0 at halftime and would go up by as many as 13 goals on multiple occasions. Straley finished one goal shy of a season-high with four. Olson recorded her fourth sraight three-goal performance.

Tal ended the day with three goals to go along with a game-high six steals. Chloe McKay earned the win with five saves and four steals, while fellow goalkeeper Ava Donleavy finished with six saves.
