SHASTA WINS SACRAMENTO CITY CLASSIC

SACRAMENTO – The Shasta College volleyball team won both matches at the Sacramento City Classic on Wednesday to capture the mini tournament title.

The Knights beat De Anza in five sets 25-21, 26-28, 19-25, 25-17, 15-12 in the opener and swept Sacramento City 25-17, 25-14, 25-22 in the second match.

Sophomore Jennifer Troxclair registered a career-best 23 kills against De Anza and added 10 digs. Presley Hamilton had eight kills and 13 digs, Sarah Ault and eight kills, 37 assists and nine digs, and Aliyah Rosado-Cruz led the Knights with 28 digs to go with seven assists. Olivia Sladek, Rosado-Cruz and Hamilton each had three service aces.

Against Sac City, Shasta recorded 34 kills to only nine hitting errors with Hamilton leading the way with 12 kills followed by Troxclair, who had 10 kills and 11 digs. Rosado-Cruz racked up a season-best 32 digs while Ault dished 24 assists and a pair of aces. Danielle Stroscher had three blocking assists.

Shasta (5-5) plays at Los Angeles Mission College Invitational on Friday.
