CHABOT WOMEN'S SOCCER STAYS UNBEATEN

Goalkeeper Abby Burnell worked her second consecutive shutout and the Chabot College women's soccer team remained unbeaten with a 3-0 triumph at Marin on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
 
Chabot (3-0) got rolling in the second half after fighting the wind in the first half while still managing to create a few chances. Three apparent Chabot goals were wiped away by two offside calls and an obstruction call, but the Gladiators nonetheless pulled away in the second half.
 
Monica Luna scored the first official goal of the match from close range in the 50th minute off a Briana Torres assist. Fedra Sanchez made it 2-0 on a penalty shot into the lower right corner in the 76th minute. Karollyn Zepeda Siliezar, two minutes after coming on as a substitute, rounded out the scoring off a precise through ball from Mariela DeLeon in the 88th minute.
 
Chabot coach Markus Bathelt was pleased with the resilient effort which included the Gladiators' amassing 16 shots in the second half. He added that the team has a "realization that we need to work more at our ruthlessness in finishing our well-developed chances."
