Tough ending for Pirates, edged by one in season finale

It was a rough way to end the 2019-20 season for the Porterville College men's basketball team. Facing Reedley College in their season finale on Friday, the Pirates suffered a narrow 74-73 loss to the Tigers.

Porterville closed out the year with a 14-14 overall record and ended tied for fourth place in the Central Valley Conference standings with Reedley at 7-7. The Pirates' 14 wins this season was the most since the 2011-12 squad went 14-13.

Friday's game was close from the opening tip. Reedley held a one-point advantage at halftime, 43-42, and held on for the win in the second. The Tigers nailed 10 three-pointers that proved to be the difference.

Roy led the sophomores with 12 points and added 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. King put up 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists in his final game while Lei scored 9 points and Bradford put up 5 points.

Dustin Henderson led the Pirates with 22 points and Chirrag Sidhu nearly had a double-double with 14 points and 9 rebounds.
