M. Tennis: Cerritos posts 7-2 win over Victor Valley

In their Inland Empire Athletic Conference opener, the Cerritos College men's tennis team recorded a 7-2 home win over Victor Valley College. The win improved the Falcons season record to 3-1, with all three of the wins coming at home. They will host College of the Desert on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in another conference match.

The win over the Rams saw four Falcon players seeing their first action of the season. Sophomore Saar Rogovski (Menacham Begin, Israel) moved into the #1 singles position on the ladder and breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 win, while he teamed with freshman Michael Doria (La Serna HS) for an 8-0 doubles victory. Freshman Luke Andrews (Columbine, CO HS), playing his first match of the season in the #2 spot on the singles ladder, dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win. He also teamed with freshman Brendan Harden (Lakewood HS) for the first time and posted an 8-2 doubles win.

Harden earned a 6-1, 6-1 win in his first appearance of the season, with sophomore Edson Pinzon (Warren HS) taking little time to defeat Joe Ward, 6-0, 6-2 in the #4 spot. It also marked the first match of the season for Pinzon. Also competing in their first match were freshmen Jacob Miles (La Serna HS) and Josh Manso (Speech & Language Development Center HS). In singles play, Miles swept past Tanner McBride, 6-0, 6-0, while Manso was defeated, 1-6, 5-7. The two also dropped their doubles match, 4-8.
