SOFTBALL: CRUSHING THE SEASON OPENER

The Hornets got the season off in the right direction Wednesday outscoring San Bernardino Valley College on the road 15-4.

The Wolverines drew first blood scoring a run in the bottom for the first, but FC answered back with 4 runs in the second. Nia Rodman got it started hitting a double that scored Elexa Rangel. Rodman and Eryka Springer both scored on a throwing error. Baylee Giordano hit a double that brought in Tiffiny Centeno

Fullerton added another 4 runs in the third. Springer got on base on a fielding error, which gave Rangel the chance to score. Rodman came up to bat and hit a two-run homer.

In the fourth inning, the Hornets scored again on a solo home run by Kaylee Williamson.

Williamson struck again in the fifth hitting a triple that allowed Centeno to cross home plate.

The Hornets were not done adding five more runs in the sixth inning imposing the mercy rule on San Bernardino.

Natasha Trujillo got the start in the circle for Fullerton earning her first win, while giving up 4 runs in 3.1 innings. Deanna Gonzalez came in relief tossing 2.2 innings while giving up only 3 hits.

Offensively, the Hornets were stellar with Nia Rodman leading the way going 3-4 at the plate with 2 runs and 4 RBI. Kaylee Williamson went 3-5 with 1 run and 2 RBI, while Alexis Contreras was 1-2 with 1 run and 2 RBI.

Up Next: Fullerton (1-0 overall) will play at Glendale College this Friday, February 2nd at 3:00 pm.
