Taylor’s Brace Lifts Women’s Soccer to Road Win

Freshman Angelica Taylor scored twice as El Camino College recorded its first win of the season, 4-1, Friday afternoon at Mount San Jacinto

The Warriors (1-3) snapped a three-game skid to start the year in a big way, scoring four times against the host Eagles (2-4-1).

Meila Bissoondial opened the scoring for the Warriors and Julia Ausland scored the eventual game-winning goal while Kayla Dombrowski, Sierra Rangel and Mia Hogentogler each notched assists in the victory. Karlee Clark scored her first win in net for ECC as she recorded five saves.

Bissoondial got the Warriors on the board quickly as she took a pass from Rangel and deposited it into the back of the net in the fourth minute to give the Warriors their first lead of the season.

The Eagles responded with a goal in the 23rd minute to tie things up at 1-1 and that is how the teams headed into halftime.

But the Warriors once again came out firing quickly as Ausland took a feed from Hogentogler and scored her first goal of the season, which would become the first game-winning goal of her career.

Taylor added the insurance, scoring off a pass from Dombrowski in the 74th minute and then she capped the scoring with a goal off a free kick in the 82nd minute.

The Warriors will return home on Monday, Sept. 20 to face Santa Monica, a make-up game from their originally scheduled matchup on Sept. 3. It will be the first of six straight home matches for the Warriors. Kickoff on Monday is set for 2 p.m.
