COD Beach Volleyball sneaks by Tigers, 3-2

COD (3-2) took hard fought losses in the 1's and 5's, but secured wins elsewhere to knock off their intra-County rivals, the Riverside City Tigers (1-5), 3-2.

The Desert 2's team of freshman Melanie Hernandez (Thermal Coachella Valley) and freshman Briana Delval (Indio H.S.) would win easily in straight sets and the Desert 3's team of freshman Liana Whitley (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Jacqueline Leon (La Quinta H.S.) fought hard in their match, overcoming some communication issues to win in straight sets. The Desert 4's team of freshman Kiersten Sinzun-Young (Palmdale Highland) and freshman Paige Perez (Palm Desert H.S.) just demolished their opponents in the first set, then had to hold on for extras in the second set, eventually winning in straight sets.

The next matches for College of the Desert Beach Volleyball will be Friday, February 17th beginning at 11 a.m., at Frazee Beach in Carlsbad, where they will face the University of Saint Katherine Firebirds and the Palomar Comets of San Marcos. The next home matches for College of the Desert Beach Volleyball will be Saint Patrick's Day, Friday, March 17th beginning at 10 a.m., at the Civic Center Park, where they will host the Mt. San Antonio Mounties to open up South Coast Conference play. Hope to see you there.
