Bobcats open new building in style

The Saddleback women's soccer team opened the season with a 7-0 win against Cerritos College.  Maliyah Medley scored four goals as the Bobcats were dominant on opening day.

The weather was hot and so were the Bobcats.  Saddleback scored three goals in the opening half in taking a comfortable lead on Cerritos.  Kylie Beu scored the first goal in the new stadium when she took a pass from Nadia Amin and beat the keeper for a 1-0 lead.

The "Maliyah Medley Show" started in the 43rd minute when she scored her first of four straight goals.  Medley made the score 2-0 off a pass from Carina Rubalcaba before scoring again before half in the 45th minute off a pass from Lizbeth De Loera

De Loera and Medley would connect two more times to start the second half, making it 4-0 in the 48th minute and 5-0 in the 61st minute.

Saddleback tacked on a pair of goals from Emma Snow to finish off the scoring.  Snow redirected passes from De Loera in the 72nd minute and Rylie Laisy and Karley Osorio in the 74th minute as the Bobcats ran away and hid from the Falcons.

Olivia Wynn started in goal and played 70 minutes in picking up the win before giving way to Lehar Chawla.

Saddleback's 7-0 win marked the sixth season in a row that the program has recorded a shutout on opening day of the season.  The largest margin of victory on opening day was in 2016 when the program defeated Cuyamaca College, 10-0.  Saddleback has now outscored opponents 30-0 on opening day over the past six seasons.

Saddleback has now won eight straight games on opening day.  The last time the program dropped a season-opener was in 2012 (0-1, San Diego City).

Saddleback will play again next Friday when they host MiraCosta College at 3:00 PM.
