Condors Take Down SBCC in Big WSC Showdown

Oxnard College men's soccer team hosted Santa Barbara City College on Friday. The condors picked up their 2nd conference win against the Vaqueros. With a 2-1-win Friday evening, the Condors are off to a great start and displaying good performances.

A highly anticipated match, it did not fail to present moments of tension and excitement. Both teams were scoreless in the half, but let go of clear opportunities. A shot by Miguel Lopez which seemed to open up the score was cleared off the line by Vaqueros defender. The Vaqueros also had three clear chances of their own. The Condors goalie Efrain Perez came up big with three saves to deny SBCC.

In the 58th minute of the match, Miguel Lopez assisted sophomore Angel Herrera who rifled a shot past the keeper for the Condors opening goal. The lead wouldn't be long for the Vaqueros to respond and tie the game up in the 65th minute scored by Lovgren. Condors continued to control and arrived at the opponents final third. A shot by Juan Pablo was denied by the goal post, keeping the score at 1-1.

In the final minutes of the game, the Condors were awarded a penalty kick. Angel Herrera again stepped up for the shot, and without a doubt he delivered. Herrera picked up his second goal of the night to give the Condors a 2-1 victory over the Vaqueros.

The Condors now (2-0-0) in Conference, will prepare for their next match on Tuesday Oct 19.
