ADVANCING TO ROUND 3 OF THE SOCAL REGIONALS

The No. 3 seeded Hornets got the job done against No. 19 Cuyamaca College at home Saturday afternoon ending the Coyote's season 2-1 in Round 2 of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

The first half was a wash as both teams ended it with a scoreless tie. Although the Fullerton offense spent most of its time on the Cuyamaca end of the field it was unable to convert.

The game took a positive turn for FC early in the second half when Kevin Manzo knocked the ball into the back of the net from 15-yards out giving the Hornets a 1-0 lead around the 50-minute mark (assist by Misael Gonzalez).

Ten minutes later, the Hornets struck again on an athletic goal by the Orange Empire Conference MVP Misael Gonzalez from 20-yards. The assist was courtesy of Nima Ahmari.

Holding a strong 2-0 lead, the FC defense did its best to preserve the victory even with a late Cuyamaca goal with two minutes left in the match.

Fullerton goalkeeper Jose Estrada held it down for 70 minutes with no goals against and 3 saves. Hayden Frost filled in admirably for the last 20 minutes with 2 saves and a goal against.

Up Next: The No. 3 Hornets (14-4-4 overall) will host No. 6 Long Beach City College on Tuesday, November 22nd at 2:00 pm. Come out and support the team!
