SHASTA WRAPS UP NON-CONFERENCE PLAY WITH TWO LOSSES

Shasta wraps up non-conference play with two losses

Thompson averages 21 points across both games

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College men's basketball team lost both games of its homestand over the weekend to No. 7 Yuba College and Lane College in Oregon for the final non-conference games of the year.

Sophomore Zach Thompson scored 42 points across the two games to lead the Knights in scoring.

No. 7 Yuba 94, Shasta 92
The Knights lost Saturday 94-94 after making a push for the win but unable to complete the comeback. Shasta trailed 49-33 at half and put up 59 points in the second half. Shasta made a season-high 12 3-pointers on 12-of-27 shooting (44 percent) and was led by Thompson's 28 points on six 3s. Michael Plunkitt scored 12 points, grabbed six steals and dished five assists and Tanner Bidwell scored 12 points. Simmer Singh led the Knights with seven rebounds. Coming off the bench, Jonny Cruz scored nine points, Adam Shoff tallied eight points and Khristian Clements chipped in with seven points.

Lane 93, Shasta 75
The Knights trailed 49-41 at half and only managed 34 points in the second half. Shasta shot 7-of-26 from 3-point range in the loss while Singh scored 18 points to lead the way followed by Thompson's 14 points. Brendan Hoag scored 12 points off the bench and Plunkitt scored eight points and dished six assists.

Shasta wraps up non-conference play 9-9 overall and hosts College of the Siskiyous on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
