Men's volleyball team ranked No. 3 in final CCCMVCA state poll

With the end of the regular season and the announcement of the California Community College Athletic Association State Tournament, Long Beach City takes over the top spot in the end of the year CCCMVCA State Top 10 Poll.

Irvine Valley finishes the regular season with at No. 3 in the state poll. A spot it has been most of the season.

The Lasers ended with a record of 16-4 overall and placed second in the Orange Empire Conference.

IVC hosts No. 6 Santa Monica on Saturday at home at 6 p.m.

No admission will be charged. Social distancing is encouraged.

Orange Coast had been ranked No. 1 all season long in the CCCCMVCA poll, but Long Beach City moved to No. 1 in the seedings for the state with its wins against teams moving on to the playoffs.

The Vikings with a record of 16-2 overall will play the only opening playoff match on Friday night, taking on No. 8 San Diego Mesa (8-13).

LBCC's Kyler Tufuga leads the state in digs at 3.36 per set.

Orange Coast is seeded No. 2 in the state playoffs with a record of 17-1 and went undefeated in the Orange Empire Conference. The Pirates have won 12 straight matches and dropped just one set in OEC play.

The Pirates host No. 7 Moorpark on Saturday at 6 p.m.

OCC's Will Anderson leads the state in total kills with 221.

Irvine Valley is No. 3 and the Lasers play host No. 6 Santa Monica on Saturday at 6 p.m.

The Lasers swept Santa Monica at home earlier this season, but the Corsairs had a big, five-set win over Santa Barbara City last Wednesday to stay in the bracket. Mason Johnson finished with 20 kills and Elijah Chambers had 46 assists for SMC.

IVC's Josh Beymer leads the state in blocks at 1.36 per set.

El Camino is in at the fourth seed and hosts No. 5 Miramar in one of the featured matches of the weekend – Saturday at El Camino at 6 p.m.

El Camino defeated No. 1 Long Beach City on Mar. 11 in four sets. Vladimir Kubr is second in the state in assists per set for the Warriors.

Miramar is 14-3 overall, went 9-0 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference and took No. 2 OCC and No. 3 Irvine Valley to five sets in close losses this year.
