Soccer too much for Long Beach City

The Saddleback women's soccer team finished up the non-conference schedule with a 3-1 victory over Long Beach City College on Friday inside the stadium.  The Bobcats took an early lead and never looked back in improving to 5-1-1 on the season.

Saddleback finished up what was a very challenging pre-conference schedule on Friday.  The Bobcats were facing yet another squad with an impressive record as Long Beach City entered the game without a loss.  The Vikings left the contest with their first blemish of the season after Saddleback scored a two-goal win.

Saddleback had three of its prettiest goals of the season, as the passing was as crisp as it has been all year.  The Bobcats opened the scoring when Averee Campos slid a perfect pass through the defense to Lacy Ruston, who slammed home her second goal of the season in the 5th minute for a 1-0 lead.

Saddleback opened up a 2-0 lead in the 20th minute when Lizbeth De Loera scored her third goal of the season off a give-and-go from Alexa Livingstone.  The Bobcats then took a 3-0 lead in the 34th minute when Chloe Green fed Averee Campos for her second goal of the season.

Saddleback held just a 14-11 advantage in shots on goal for the game, but the quality of shots created were easily the best of the season so far.  The Bobcats had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks while getting close to 20 players into the game.

Saddleback is now 5-1-1 overall heading into Orange Empire Conference play next week.  The Bobcats will open OEC play at Orange Coast College on Tuesday (3:00 PM) before returning home on Friday to face Cypress College (3:00 PM).
