Women’s Tennis: Roadrunners can’t keep up with Cerritos in SCC opener

The Rio Hondo College women's tennis team opened up South Coast Conference play with a tough 9-0 loss at Cerritos College on Thursday.

The loss snapped the Roadrunners' three-match winning streak and dropped Rio Hondo to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

The Roadrunners were overwhelmed against Cerritos' team of international all-stars and totaled just seven points in the match. Roxanne Valverde posted Rio Hondo's best chance at a win, but fell 6-3, 6-2 to Mary Navalta at No. 6 singles.
