SANTA ANA, CA – The first round of the CCCAA SoCal Regionals provided plenty of late drama, but after a 1-1 tie in regulation, it was Santa Ana that came out on top in penalties, 5-3.

The Vaqueros (10-5-6) doubled the Dons (10-6-6) in shots on target 6-3, but Santa Ana would get on the board first with a goal by Saul Vasquez in the 71st minute.

Needing an equalizer in the closing minutes, SBCC got just that from Will Demirkol on yet another assist by Bart Muns. Demirkol ends his sophomore year with a three-game scoring run. Muns tallied an assist for the fourth straight game, with five over that span.

Unfortunately for the Vaqueros, penalty kicks wouldn't go their way. Santa Ana goalkeeper Jorge Cortes finished with five saves on the night to SBCC goalkeeper Daniel Baradaran's two.
