SHASTA COLLEGE SWEEPS TWO IN YUBA CLASSIC

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's volleyball team won both games at the Yuba College Classic over the weekend, sweeping both Diablo Valley and Yuba to pick up the first two wins of the year.

The Knights beat Diablo Valley 25-16, 25-17, 25-16, recording 29 kills to DV's 10. Sophomores Charly Simpson and Jennifer Troxclair led the way with six kills apiece as eight Knights recorded a kill in the match. Freshman Olivia Sladek had five kills, freshman Olivia Kaczmarek had four and sophomore Asha Woods and freshman Mahala Rogers each tallied three. Sophomore Danae Ford dished 25 assists and freshman Aliyah Rosado Cruz registered 19 digs.

In the sweep of Yuba, Shasta won 25-16, 25-17, 25-16 behind 15 kills from Kaczmarek. Troxclair had eight kills and freshman Emma Montague had four kills. Ford put up 33 assists, Troxclair had six service aces and 11 digs, and Rosado Cruz totaled 28 digs.

The Knights lost the season opener against Southwestern Oregon 25-9, 25-18, 25-21 earlier in the week. Troxclair totaled a team-high seven kills while Kaczmarek had five kills. Ford added 16 assists and Rosado Cruz finished with 19 digs.

Shasta (2-1) has four matches this week with two in the Sierra Classic on Wednesday and two in the Delta Classic on Friday.
