Athletic scholarships nearing new record for Saddleback College
MISSION VIEJO - The Saddleback College athletics department is proud to announce that the athletes from the 2019-20 teams have now exceeded $2.9-million in athletic scholarships. It is nearing a record high set two years earlier and the school now has close to 50 athletes earning scholarships to play at the next level.
"Our coaches have done an amazing job at promoting their athletes, which has resulted in scholarships," Saddleback Athletic Director Randy Totorp said. "To see that many athletes heading out the doors with some of their education paid for during these uncertain times is a testament to how hard our coaches have been working for their athletes."
Since our last update in July, Saddleback athletes have added another $200,000+ in scholarships and now sit at $2.941-million. The best year ever recorded was back in 2017-18 when the Saddleback athletes secured $2.951-million in athletic scholarships.
In addition to scholarships earned, close to 20 more athletes will continue their athletic careers as walk-on athletes at four-year programs around the country, with a multitude more transferring to four-year schools to continue their academics.
