Alex Sarkissian Breaks into the top 200 in the world
Former Glendale Community College standout and CCCAA state champion, Alex Sarkissian, broke a milestone, entering into the top 200 in the world with a win on Wednesday in Bangkok Thailand against Shuichi Sekiguchi from Japan. By reaching the quarterfinals of the tournament Alex will gain 15 points giving him a ranking of 196. Sarkissian is the first community college player since Foothill College's Brad Gilbert to accomplish this since 1981. Next he will face Marco Trungelliti from Argentina in the quarterfinals on Friday Sept 4th. Sarkissian took some big steps in his career by making a main draw of the Claro Open ATP 250 tournament in Colombia in July and competing in the qualifying draw of the US Open earlier this week before losing in the first round.
